Södra (Växjö, Sweden) announced a price increase for its softwood pulp in Europe to $830 per metric ton, with the change becoming effective June 1. The company briefly explained the rationale for the increase, noting a stronger global market and solid demand.

"Recent market statistics support the positive signals we had already noticed. The softwood pulp market is strong and we anticipate the market will tighten even further," commented Magnus Björkman, VP of Södra Cell.
