Michelman, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, a global manufacturer of digital printing-press primers used in commercially printed material as well as labels and packaging, will introduce drupa 2016 visitors to new high performance, water-based primer technologies for use with UV inkjet printing presses that improve print quality and ink adhesion.

The company is working with a number of UV inkjet press manufacturers to develop primer solutions for both film and paper substrates. According to Jan Denies, industry manager for Michelman’s Printing & Packaging Group, "in UV inkjet printing applications, primers are not typically applied. However, the experimental primer solution we have developed for printing with UV inkjet presses on film substrates provides more consistent and better adhesion of ink. We also have an experimental primer that produces improved print quality and higher color density on texturized paper, which is particularly beneficial for wine labels."

These and other innovative Michelman solutions will be featured at their exhibit in hall 4, booth A24 at drupa 2016, which is being held May 31-June 10, 2016, in Dusseldorf, Germany.
