Canfor Corp., Vancouver, B.C., Canada, announced this week that, further to its news release dated Jan. 21, 2016, it has completed the acquisition of the assets of Wynndel Box & Lumber Ltd. located in the Creston Valley, B.C. Wynndel is a producer of premium boards and customized specialty wood products sold under the brand name WynnWood.

In the acquisition, Canfor also gained Wynndel's access rights to exceptionally high-quality fiber, which it says will advance Canfor's ability to produce a broader mix of higher value specialty products. The acquisition of assets includes a sawmill located in Wynndel, B.C., with an annual production capacity of 65 million board feet, and approximately 65,000 cubic meters of annual harvesting rights in the Kootenay Lake Timber Supply Area.

"We welcome the employees of Wynndel to the Canfor team," said Don Kayne, president and CEO of Canfor. "We look forward to working together to continue to provide high-quality products and excellent service to our customers worldwide."

Canfor is an integrated forest products company with interests in British Columbia, Alberta, Ont., Canada, as well as (in the U.S.) North and South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Canfor produces primarily softwood lumber and also owns a 51.9% interest in Canfor Pulp Products Inc., one of the largest producers of market northern bleached softwood kraft pulp and a leading producer of high performance kraft paper.
