The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), Sayville, N.Y., USA, announced this past week that International Paper (IP), Memphis, Tenn., a global leader in packaging, paper, and pulp, is the most recent sustainability leader to become a SGP Patron. As a platinum level Patron, IP supports the goals of the SGP program at the highest level.

IP has a long history of being a strong advocate for sustainability. The company has a suite of 12 voluntary sustainability goals with a focus on air, water, and forest stewardship. IP was said to recognize that sustaining natural resources is crucial to the future of our planet.

"IP has been a leader in sustainable business practices for 118 years. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and helping our customers do the same, by providing products, services, and solutions that use resources more efficiently," said James McDonald, director of sustainability, IP.

With the support of its patrons, SGP is able to continue promoting sustainability to the printing industry, keep certification affordable, and provide educational programs.
