As reported this week by RISI, Brussels, Belgium, Schweitzer-Mauduit plans to retire its 5,000 metric tpy specialty paper PM 1 at the company’s Papeteries de Saint-Girons in France, according to a CGT union representative. Some 55 jobs could be lost as a result.

"The firm plans to close the mill’s PM 1 under an early retirement voluntary redundancy scheme. But this machine is essential to ensuring the long-term viability of the entire site," a union representative was quoted in the RISI article.
