Sappi North America, Boston, Mass., USA, has announced the addition of McCoy Gift Card 28pt to its McCoy® line. Described by Sappi as "luxurious, resilient, and derived from renewable resources," McCoy gift cards provide expanded flexibility in printing and finishing. Additionally, brand owners can now ensure brand consistency throughout all marketing efforts by using the entire McCoy paper line for their printing needs—gift cards, card carriers, direct mailings, marketing collateral, and much more, Sappi explains.

McCoy gift cards, to be sold to card printers and converters, allow for effortless design defined by the details—rich images that pop, superior surface quality that reflects an expanded range of light and fine details, durability for daily use, and production through renewable resources that help reduce environmental impact. Additional qualities include:

  • Robust product design for the toughest printing and post-production applications
  • Uniform color reproduction
  • Exceptional ink hold-out for full color intensity
  • Silk finish
  • Tight variability tolerances
  • 10% recycled fiber
  • SFI and FSC Chain of Custody certification
  • Made in the USA.
"With ongoing expansion of the gift card market, especially environmentally friendly paper-based gift cards, which we estimate at 8% of the market and growing, the Gift Card Network welcomes Sappi North America as our newest member," said Martha Weaver, director, The Gift Card Network.

The McCoy paper brand's premium surface and printability allow for a variety of stand-out printing techniques, including heavy color saturated imagery, embossing, foil printing, and spot gloss. McCoy gift cards have also been engineered for high bond strength to satisfy tape, hot glue, and authorization mechanisms, including scratch-offs, bar codes, and magnetic strips. Additionally, McCoy gift cards' multi-layer structure is optimized for clean-edge, die-cut quality, plus the paper stays flat and even through processing, with no feeding issues.

"Sappi is the first and only coated paper producer and supplier to provide such a comprehensive offering within a single product line," said Mark Hittie, director, Packaging Brands and Communications. "Printer feedback from product trials has been very positive, citing McCoy as one of the best performing paper gift cards on the market. We're extremely proud to be able to offer brand owners the resources they need to consistently communicate their messaging in a high-quality way, and we look forward to extending the McCoy multi-ply line in the future."
