Papierfabrik Palm Planning to Acquire Roba Corrugated

Papierfabrik Palm, Germany, plans to take over Roba Corrugated Gmbh, a corrugated sheetboard manufacturer located in Zorbau near Leipzig, eastern Germany. The German competition authority Bundeskartellamt rports that it has been notified of Palm's intention to acquire Roba Corrugated, which is part of the Swiss-based Roba Group. The group runs two facilities in Germany and one in Austria. 

According to Papierfabrik Palm, Roba Group is exploring focusing on the offset-printed packaging and displays business in the future, while Palm would like to expand its corrugated sheetboard business. The two companies were in "exclusive and promising" takeover talks and had given a prior notification to the competition authority, the company said. 

As part of its plans to expand its corrugated sheet feeding business in Italy, Papierfabrik Palm also is bidding to acquire Ondulati Giusti, a corrugated board and packaging manufacturer managed by the Italian Pro-Gest group. The two companies were in "exclusive and promising" takeover talks and had given a prior notification to the competition authority, the company said.
