AkzoNobel Considering Acquisition of BASF Industrial Coatings

AkzoNobel, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, confirmed this week that it is in discussions with BASF, Germany, regarding a potential purchase of that company’s industrial coatings business. AkzoNobel notes that its strategy of driving operational excellence and organic growth includes the possibility to pursue value generating, bolt-on acquisitions.
 
AkzoNobel said that no further details will be made available at this stage.
 
AkzoNobel is a global coatings and paints and company and a major producer of specialty chemicals. The company has approximately 45,000 employees in some 80 countries. Its portfolio includes well-known brands such as Dulux, Sikkens, International, Interpon, and Eka.
