Veritiv Corp., Atlanta, Ga., USA, has appointed industry veteran Chris van Zijl to lead its European paper and print management business, and has opened a sales office near Augsburg, Germany, to support growth opportunities in that country, which is one of the world's leading print and paper markets.

Van Zijl has held top positions within the European paper and print industry for more than 30 years, most recently with Norske Skog, a global producer of newsprint and magazine paper. Van Zijl will also manage Veritiv's other European offices.

"We see significant opportunities in Europe, specifically Germany, Benelux, and the U.K., to use Veritiv's capabilities to build a stronger position in the paper and print management markets," said John Biscanti, group VP of Veritiv Publishing and Print Management.

"While market conditions are challenging, we believe Veritiv can use its expertise and knowledge in paper and print management to deliver value-added solutions, as well as streamlined processes and efficiencies, to customers so they can focus on growing their core business," Biscanti noted.

Serving customers across a variety of industries, Veritiv provides print, publishing, packaging, facility, and logistics solutions. Established in 2014, following the merger of International Paper Co.'s xpedx division and Unisource Worldwide, the company has some 8,900 employees across about 180 distribution centers throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
