Domtar Corp., Canada, has elected Mary A. Winston to its board of directors. From 2012 until August 2015, Winston served as EVP and CFO of Family Dollar Stores Inc., a retailer with nearly $11 billion in revenue, which was acquired by Dollar Tree in July 2015. Winston played a vital role in working with the board of directors, shareholders, and other constituents to successfully complete the transaction and to plan for the integration of the businesses.

"We are extremely pleased to add Mary to our board." said Robert J. Steacy, Domtar's chairman of the board. "Her experience and skills will be a valued addition to our board as we continue to implement our key strategic initiatives."

John D. Williams, Domtar's president and CEO, noted that "Mary's extensive experience in the retail, manufacturing, publishing, and healthcare markets, combined with her financial acumen, will be instrumental in advancing our company's strategic growth."

Before joining Family Dollar, Winston served as SVP and CFO of Giant Eagle Inc., a grocery and fuel retailer. Prior to that, she served as EVP and CFO of Scholastic Corp., a global company in the publishing, education, and media arenas.  Winston has also held executive-level positions with Visteon Corp., a global automotive supplier, and with Pfizer Inc., the world's largest pharmaceutical company. She started her career as a CPA with a global public accounting firm.

Winston currently serves on the board of directors and is chair of the audit committee of Dover Corp., a global diversified manufacturer of industrial products. She also serves on the board of directors, the nominating and corporate governance committee, and the audit committee of Plexus Corp., a global electronics engineering and manufacturing services provider.

Winston obtained a BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management. She is a member of the board of the Carolinas Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and serves as the chair for its advisory board.
