Niederauer Muehle, Germany, plans to acquire the Norske Skog Walsum Papier mill in Duisburg, Germany. According to a Euwid news report, the company’s management is in discussions with the insolvency administrator of Walsum to purchase the mill.

Reportedly, following the acquisition, the Walsum mill would continue producing lightweight coated (LWC) papers on its PM 10, and Niederauer Muehle would convert currently idle PM 4 to white-top testliner production.

This past June, Norske Skog discontinued operations at the unprofitable Walsum mill, which has a production capacity of 205,000 metric tpy of LWC paper. It employed 291 people.
