TAPPI Industry Career Center: Georgia-Pacific Seeks Process Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer

Georgia-Pacific, Atlanta, Ga., USA, is seeking an experienced process engineer and electrical project engineer for its containerboard mill in  Monticello, Miss., which is about an hour south of Jackson and an hour northwest of Hattiesburg. This union plant employs approximately 430 people who are committed to sustainability for the benefit of the environment, society, and our business.

Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.

 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, pulp and paper, or related process engineering
  • Minimum of two years of experience in process engineering in a manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
  • Availability to work occasional 12-hr. shift
  • Must be able to analyze data (particularly using Excel).
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Seven-plus years of experience in process engineering in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in pulp and paper industry
  • Experience managing or working on capital projects
  • Experience mentoring new employees, i.e. ELEs/ interns
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience training or leading meetings to share knowledge.
 
Basic Qualifications: 
  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering required
  • Five-plus years of experience in electrical project management and/or related work experience required
  • Strong written communications skills and project proposal development
  • Power experience (motor control centers, switchgear, transformers, relays, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution and PLC systems
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience with college recruiting programs.
