Research and Markets, Dublin, Ireland, has added the Containerboard Market in Latin America, 2015-2019 report to its offering. According to the report, the containerboard market in Latin America will grow at a CAGR of 3.12% over the period 2014-2019.

Containerboard Market in Latin America, 2015-2019 was prepared based on an in-depth market analysis with inputs from industry experts. The report covers the landscape of the containerboard market in Latin America and its growth prospects in the coming years. It includes a discussion of the key vendors operating in this market.

Vendors are providing high-performance, lightweight containerboard to reduce cost, improve performance, and address environmental concerns, the report notes, adding that these are eco-friendly products that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. MWV Rigesa also acquired a new paper machine that uses advanced technology to produce innovative kraftliner paper.

Mondi, an international packaging company, invested in the recycled containerboard machine ECO7, which produces cost-effective, lightweight liners and flutings with an annual production capacity of 470,000 metric tons, the report points out. Mondi also introduced ProVantage, a lightweight, durable, high-fiber containerboard made from recycled fiber. At the Interpack event in 2014, Mondi showcased its kraft portfolio of high-quality containerboard grades suitable for various packaging end-users such as chemical and pharmaceutical, the report says.

The report further notes that international vendors are setting up operations in Latin America due to the high demand for packaging in Central and South America. Vendors in Brazil, the major revenue contributor in the region, are increasing their operations either by expanding existing production plants or by acquiring small vendors.

Further, the report states that slow economic growth is a significant challenge hindering the growth of the market, which has caused the domestic demand for packaging products to decrease from 2014-2015.

Key vendors are Greif, International Paper, Klabin, Mondi, and Smurfit Kappa Group. Other prominent vendors include Billerudkorsnas, DS Smith, Packaging Corp. of America, Pratt Industries, SCA, Sonoco Products, Stora Enso Packaging, Zucamor.
