Students Winners at IBBC Poster Competition Announced

At TAPPI’s International Bioenergy and Bioproducts Conference (IBBC) held last week in Atlanta, Ga., USA, attendees participated in the event’s first ever Student Poster competition. Sponsored by HurterConsult Inc., 16 students submitted abstracts on their current research. The first prize winner was awarded $200 and the second prize winner $100. Posters were evaluated based on scientific content, presentation, and communication.
  
First prize was awarded to Prajakta Dongre from Syracuse University for her poster "Potential Uses of Lignin Recovered from Hot-water Extraction." Chi Truong from the University of Maine was awarded second place for his poster "Pressurized Fast Pyrolysis of Calcium Formate Pretreated Pine for Stabilization of Bio-Oil." Honorable mention went to Justin Weber from the University of Georgia for his poster on "Synthesis of Iron Based Catalysts for Ketonization Followed by Hydrogenation of Aqueous Extracted Fast Pyrolysis Oil."
