The Midland Paper Company, Wheeling, Ill., USA, yesterday informed their customers on their news blog that the newly formed WestRock announced it will raise coated recycled paperboard prices by $50/ton effective in early August, according to the company's market contacts.

WestRock announced the price hike individually to customers. Varying reports of the effective date are set for August 7 and August 10, two different buyer sources commented. This price increase follows a trend of price increase on coated recycled board prices as a result of higher costs of materials in recent months. Graphic Packaging set a $50/ton increase on coated recycled board for August 7. PaperWorks later set a hike planned for August 10.

WestRock’s CRB system, formerly RockTenn and Mead Westvaco, is the second largest producer in North America behind Graphic Packaging. The three companies account for about 91% of total North American CRB capacity..
