Graphic Packaging International Canada, ULC, a subsidiary of Graphic Packaging Holding Co., Atlanta, Ga., USA, this week announced that it closed its thermomechanical paperboard mill in Jonquiere, Que., Canada, effective July 13. This decision was made as a result of a thorough assessment of the facility's manufacturing capabilities, associated costs, and market demand for its products. The closure affects approximately 140 employees.

"The closing of the Jonquiere facility was a difficult decision. We are working closely with the affected employees to provide support and assistance," said Mike Doss, president and COO.

The company anticipates one-time costs of $4 - $5 million in the second half of 2015 related to this closure.

Graphic Packaging Holding Co. is a provider of packaging solutions for a variety of products to food, beverage, and other consumer products companies. The company is one of the largest producers of folding cartons and holds a leading market position in coated-unbleached kraft, coated-recycled boxboard, and specialty packaging.
