VPK Packaging Plant Opening in Stevens Point

According to a report this past week by the local Stevens Point Journal, Stevens Point, Wis., USA, a packaging company based in Belgium is planning to open its first U.S. plant in the Wisconsin city in June. VPK Packaging Group is already in the process of shipping specialized machinery to the U.S. from Germany, with plans to install the machinery during the last two weeks of May and open a core winding site in Stevens Point, with production beginning in June, according to a news release on the company's website.

The plant will produce cores used in the foil and paper industries and will focus on local markets, the release noted.

VPK already operates 37 plants in 12 countries with about 3,724 full-time employees as of 2014, according to the company's website.
