The TAPPI Community is saddened to learn of the sudden loss of member Stephen Anthony Martin, 62, of Liberty, Mo., USA, who passed away unexpectedly in his home on Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2014.

Martin was born April 30, 1952, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Jean Martin and Theresa (Barrale) Martin. He served as a medic in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Steve's career with Vanguard Packaging spanned more than three decades. Martin was currently COO of the company. Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Vince, other siblings, and his wife Ann's father, Harry Witzl.

Steve's legacy will be carried on through Ann, his wife of 40 years; children, Scott Martin (Kristen), Jeremy Martin, and Katie Lawson (Greg); seven grandsons, Matt, Sam, Cam, Ben, Brooks, Barrett, and Zac; brother, Ron Martin (Sue); sister, Teresa Finuf (Jerry); nieces and nephews; Ann's family, Dorothy, Joan, and Bob (Joy) Witzl; and many friends, including his Vanguard family.

There were two constants in Steve's life, his family and his work, which were often intertwined. He will be sorely missed by all.
