According to a report by WEKU News, Richmond, Ky., USA, officials with Lexmark International, Lexington, Ky., USA, are touting the survival of single cut-sheet paper.

As long as a quarter century ago, many predicted that someday America would become a paperless society. Lexmark VP of Influence Marketing Keith Jones says these many years later, the simple cut-sheet paper remains a vital part of the business and social world. Jones says even today's modern communication technologies do not signal paper's end. "With the adoption of smart phones and tablets, the way we've seen and even the transition in the workforce to millennials, it's not something we see as falling off a cliff," Jones said.

The company briefed area media this past week on the latest technologies. Jones said that paper is a medium that many still feel comfortable using. "There's still a lot of people, and not just people later in career, that like the feel of paper, like to be able to make notes on paper,"  remarked Jones.  "What we don't see as much of is long term storage of paper documents. But, it's a temporary medium," he added.

Jones says the U.S. has seen a slight decline in paper usage, but he says more paper is being used abroad in Latin America and Asia.
