SCA to idle Flexpack Papers at Mannheim, Focus on Tissue

SCA, Sweden, is reportedly planning to cease flexible packaging paper production at its Mannheim, Germany, mill to concentrate on tissue and sanitary paper products. According to a report by Euwid Pulp and Paper, Germany, SCA, will cease production of flexible packaging papers and specialty products at the hygiene products mill in Mannheim in the first quarter of 2015. 

SCA Flexpack Papers, a business unit of SCA Hygiene Products, is producing some 60,000 tpy of white machine glazed (MG) papers and unglazed greaseproof papers on two machines and employs 110 people. Wherever possible, employees affected would be offered jobs at other SCA sites in Germany, said Roger Schilling, plant manager and technical managing director at SCA in Mannheim, in the Euwid report.
