German Recycled Containerboard Prices Improve Slightly

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Producer attempts to raise recycled containerboard prices in August were partly successful in Germany. Most prices were up, although not by the desired amount, reports EUWID Pulp and Paper, Germany.

Most price negotiations on the market for recycled corrugated case material in Germany had reached their conclusion by mid-August, EUWID notes. Producers were unable to fully implement their desired hike as of August 1. In most cases, a part of the planned increase was implemented by the middle of the month. Some converters also report two-stage increases, with a first step in August and a second in September, according to EUWID.

It is still unclear whether manufacturers will make another attempt to complete their targeted hike in September. Some EUWID respondents have already said they are planning to do so.

Order intake continues to be brisk, suppliers report. Some say they are overbooked and that customers must accept long delivery times for new orders, if they can even be filled.
