Rengo Co. Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan, reports that its wholly owned subsidiary, Rengo Packaging Inc.—which carries out business in Hawaii—has commenced operations at its new corrugated plant on Oahu, Hawaii. The new plant is located within the Malakole Industrial Park in Kapolei, west of Honolulu, and is the only corrugated plant in Hawaii. Until now, all corrugated packaging used in Hawaii was shipped by sea transportation from the west coast of the U.S.

With the startup of the new plant, which is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, quality will be improved and the lead time from order to delivery will be greatly reduced, enabling the provision of detailed services that are better aligned to customers’ needs. The new plant has a total site area of 34,398 sq. meters and a total floor area of 14,265 sq. meters.

Rengo Packaging is the leading supplier of corrugated boxes and other packaging materials in Hawaii. In addition to further improving services to customers, the completion of the new plant will help to stimulate the local economy and increase employment, as well as assist the Rengo Group to enhance its business base for the Hawaiian and mainland U.S. markets, the company notes.
