Södra Cell to Expand Power Plant at Värö Pulp Mill

Södra Cell, Sweden, has ordered from Doosan Škoda Power, Sweden, turbines for expanding the power plant at Södra Cell AB’s Värö pulp mill. Doosan Škoda Power will supply not only a 64 MW type MTD40CE industrial turbine, but also the condensation system, piping, transport, and assembly, as well as installing the whole system.

The new turbine ensures the pulp mill will have adequate and even surplus electricity production, with eventual "overpower" being sold to the local power grid. The new block for biomass will increase the proportion of "green energy" within the electrification system, replacing fossil fuels.

"We chose Doosan Škoda Power as supplier of the new turbine because they had submitted a very competitive bid. Moreover, we are very satisfied with the Doosan Škoda Power turbine that has been in operation at Värö since 2007," said Jonas Eriksson, director of Södra Cell Värö.
