Example:

Anti-microbial paper is one of the new paper technologies being used in the building industry, offices, medicine, and food.  The paper is acid free and chlorine free. The antimicrobial compound and sizing/binding agents are added at the same time during the papermaking process.

In the building industry, the product is used mostly in the drywall tape. The advantage is the reduction and inhibition of microbes and fungus. In the office environment, the paper is used in folders. It resists the mold, mildew, and the odors associated with papers needing long term storage. In the area of medicine, bacteria can live on paper substrates from several days to months. The new paper protects against non-pathogenic bacteria and produces cleaner surfaces. It is also good for the packaging of sterile medical supplies. The food industry is predicting that food will last longer before spoiling due to the lack of bacteria.

Submission:

Please submit your Innovations online or send to Susan Folds at sfolds@tappi.org. 1.770.209.7244.

Celebrating a Century of Achievement Website:

The website guidelines are the same as listed above with the exception of word count. If you would like to submit an expanded innovation for the website the word count limit is 500 words.
