Twin Rivers to Complete Edmundston Odor Reduction Project

Twin Rivers Paper Co., Madawaska, Maine, USA, has been implementing its operating improvement plan since a majority interest in the company was acquired by Atlas Holdings and Blue Wolf Capital Partners in June 2013. The improvement plan included a complete review of odor reduction at the pulp mill in Edmundston, N.B., Canada.

"We’ve gathered a lot of best practice information on odor reduction technology in similar pulp mills and now we can confidently move forward with completing our own odor reduction project," said Tim Lowe, CEO. "Work has commenced in the past few weeks and will continue for the next few months."

Major tie-ins were done during a scheduled two-day maintenance shutdown that occurred in early June. Phase one will be the completion of the construction part of the project. Phase two will involve a gradual start up and calibration process of the odor reduction technology.

"We couldn’t be happier to hear that Twin Rivers is going forward with odor reduction at the mill," said Edmundston Mayor Cyrille Simard. "Since taking ownership last year, the team at the mill has been doing good work to improve operations. We’re pleased they’re making odor reduction a priority."

Twin Rivers does not anticipate there will be any disruption to residents or businesses during the construction phase of this project.
