PMP Group, Poland, a global supplier of paper and tissue technology, has signed a contract with Sun Paper Co., China, for the delivery of an Intelli-Jet V® hydraulic headbox. PMP’s unit will be delivered to the Yanzhou mill (Shandong Province), which is the largest single pulp and paper site in China. The main goal of the project is to change the existing production profile from 1-layer to 3-layer paper products.

Sun Paper is more than 30 years old and during the past decade has created a brand characterized by high quality and modern technology. Currently its total production is near 4 million metric tpy. The company’s annual turnover is an estimated RMB 30 billion. However, this amount is expected to increase in the next five to ten years to RMB 100 billion. Sun paper is known for having a significant position on the Chinese market as a paper supplier, but the company has also decided to expand its capacity in the rapidly growing premium tissue products market.

PMP Group’s scope of delivery includes a 4channel hydraulic headbox – (Intelli-Jet V®) of 3,880 mm pondside, machine controls, assembly, and startup supervision. The unit will be installed on PM 16, which produces film base paper (140-250 gsm) and has an operating speed of 600 m/min. The hydraulic headbox will include consistency profiling system, which assures excellent basis weight control, resulting in uniform paper web structure and better CD basis weight profile. Startup is scheduled for the second half of 2014.

The Intelli-Jet V hydraulic headbox is one of PMP Group’s most advanced products and is the key element in both the Intelli-Technology and Intelli-Tissue platform, PMP Group notes. Since the year 2000, PMP Group has sold more than 100 headboxes worldwide, with 67 of these units being located in Asia, it adds.
