Automatic Handling International Inc. (AHI), Erie, Mich., USA, reports that it has been selected to supply a fully automatic pulp bale handling and dewiring system to a northern Wisconsin tissue mill. The new line is scheduled to start up in early 2015.

The AHI delivery includes a fully automatic pulp bale handling and dewiring system with multiple input lanes, automatic destacking, automatic dewiring, metal detection, manual dewiring station, transfer conveyors, traversing carts, and pulper charging conveyors.

"Being an existing location with very little room, we had to get creative with the layout while utilizing our standard designs. I am very happy with the outcome as it meets all of our customer’s requirements and then some," said Dave Pienta, VP.  "Our solution may actually allow operations to change their routines and improve their process even more than expected. This line is vital to the mill’s operation and therefore we needed to ensure it was a solid solution with safety in mind."
