Construction work is now underway for the largest pulp mill investment in Canada since 1993. The $450 million modernization project at Irving Pulp & Paper (IPP) in Saint John, N.B., will involve a total of 1.2 million person hours of construction work over the next 48 months.

Civil work has begun to prepare the site for construction of a continuous digester. Existing chip handling equipment also will be replaced with state-of-the-art technology as part of JDI's ongoing investment to stay competitive in the global market environment.

This phase of the project will create 450 direct and indirect construction jobs. A detailed description of the project phases is available online.
