Appvion, Inc., Appleton, Wis., USA, has expanded its product offering of specialty substrates. Appleton Digital™ PVC is a durable, synthetic printing solution available for both HP Indigos as well as high-heat, dry-toner production digital presses. Due to its durability and resistance to damage caused by water and tearing, Appleton Digital PVC is ideal for applications such as gift cards, financial or bank cards, shelf danglers, POP and store displays, luggage tags, and table tents.

"At Appvion, we constantly review our product lines to ensure we are meeting our customers’ ever-changing needs," said Andi Peeters, Appvion’s division director, Carbonless and Specialty Papers. "Our customers have asked for a cost-effective alternative for applications where all of the benefits of polyester aren’t required. A rigid vinyl, like PVC, fills this gap allowing printers to utilize their existing equipment to produce a durable product while saving time and money."

Appleton Digital PVC, the company notes, has an ultra-smooth, matte print surface that results in vibrant color reproduction and superior toner/ink adhesion while maintaining a lay-flat/no-curl sheet, allowing excellent runnability. No over-lamination is required for many end-use applications, saving both time and money. The two-sided matte surface reduces the appearance of scratches and further protects the end-use application from normal wear, which reduces the frequency of replacement of signage, menus, shelf danglers, etc. In addition, the rigid vinyl film can easily be converted, which enables the product to be glued, welded, embossed, scored, die cut (not laser), and laminated.

Appleton Digital PVC is available in white C2S with a matte surface in calipers of 10, 15, and 20 mil for HP Indigo. The 10 and 15 mil have received HP Indigo certifications. There is also a product offering for high-heat, dry-toner printing equipment in calipers of 10 and 15 mil. All Appvion Digital PVC products can be purchased in low-sheet-count quantities in sheet sizes of 12 in. x 18 in., enabling users to purchase smaller quantities, keep inventories low, and save money.
