KapStone Reports Minor Fire at Longview Mill

KapStone Paper and Packaging Corp., Northbrook, Ill., USA, reported that it had a minor fire in one of its paper machines at its Longview, Wash., mill this past Sunday, April 13. The fire was quickly contained resulting in no injuries, the company noted. Overall damage was less than $10,000, and there was a rapid resumption of production, it added.

KapStone Paper and Packaging is the fifth largest producer of containerboard and corrugated packaging products and is the largest kraft paper producer in the U.S. The company is the parent company of KapStone Kraft Paper Corp. and KapStone Container Corp., which includes four paper mills and 22 converting plants, respectively, across the U.S. The business employs approximately 4,600 people.
