Xerium Technologies Inc. Youngsville, N.C., USA, has hired Wern-Lirn (Paul) Wang to the position of Xerium-president of Asia. Wang will be based in Xerium's Asia headquarters office in Shanghai, China, and will have full responsibility for the fast-growing Asia region. He will be responsible for delivering Xerium-Asia's long-term and short-term business plans, maintaining and strengthening customer relationships, leading improvement initiatives, and accelerating growth and profit rates.

Harold Bevis, Xerium president and CEO, noted that the company is investing in and expanding all four of its Asian plants and also is building a fifth greenfield plant in Ba Cheng, China.

Wang has 30-plus years of technical, operating, managerial, and executive leadership experience. He most recently was the CEO of Asia Timber Products where he led the MDF and laminated flooring manufacturer in China with $240 million in sales (four plants across China and 2,200 employees). He turned the company around from a loss and cash depleting position to $20+ million EBITDA. Prior to Asia Timber Products, Wang held leadership positions at Owens-Illinois, International Paper, PPG, and Owens-Corning Fiberglass.

Wang has a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from National Taiwan University, an M.S. degree in chemical engineering from Pennsylvania State University, an M.S. degree in material sciences and engineering, and an MBA degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is married with three children.
