PaperWorks Industries Inc. Bala Cynwyd, Pa., USA, announced this week that it will close its Phoenix, Ariz., folding carton plant in the coming months. Employees and customers affected by the closing have been notified as the company begins the process of transferring them to other folding carton plants in the U.S. and Canada. The closure will affect 91 employees.

"To better serve our customers," PaperWorks Packaging Group EVP Joe Moynihan said, "we are announcing our intention to consolidate our manufacturing operations in North America. The manufacturing assets will be moved out of Phoenix and repositioned among our other seven plants. Working with our customers on the transition, we will enable them to receive the same quality products and services from one or more of our other plants."
