MWV Rigesa, Brazil, reports that it has launched HyPerform, a new generation of lighter and stronger materials for corrugated packaging. The company notes that HyPerform offers key technical improvements related to uniformity that help paperboard run more smoothly, increasing productivity and improving performance.

This innovation is the result of a three-year, $480 million investment in MWV's integrated platform (forests, paper and packaging) in Brazil. The bulk of the investment was directed to the expansion of the Três Barras mill, in Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil, including a new paper machine with the most advanced technology in the world for kraftliner production. With these investments, the company has doubled its production capacity at Três Barras, securing supply to a market that continues to grow in Brazil and across Latin America.

"The launch of HyPerform affirms MWV's commitment to continued leadership in the Brazilian market," said Jairo Lorenzatto, director of operations, MWV Rigesa. "HyPerform offers our customers higher productivity and better performance. We are consistently running at designed capacity levels and are on track to produce nearly half a million tons of HyPerform this year."

The new production process at Três Barras also brings environmental benefits, with a 10% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and 60% less water consumed. The HyPerform line is certified by CERFLOR, which is under the umbrella of the PEFC forest certification system.
