Bazhou Mingxing Paper, China, has started up a 12,500 metric tpy tissue machine at its mill in Korla city in the Xinjiang autonomous region, according to a report by RISI, Brussels, Belgium. The 2.76-meter-wide machine, with a design speed of 770 meters/min, is one of a few capable of making virgin fiber tissue in Xinjiang, using market pulp imported from Russian as furnish, RISI continues.

Korla is the second largest city in Xinjiang after Urumqi, with a population of nearly half a million. Bazhou Mingxing’s output from the new machine is aimed mainly at the local market. Bazhou Mingxing plans to build additional machines at the plant in the next few years, eventually boosting its total tissue capacity to 60,000 metric tpy, RISI reports.
