Fibria, São Paulo, Brazil, reports that it has concluded an agreement to sell land assets located in the Brazilian states of São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia, and Espírito Santo to Parkia Participações S.A., of Brazil. The total value of the sale is RS1.65 billion (approximately $695 million).

According to Fibria, the gross area involved in the transaction was adjusted to 205,722 hectares. For this area, the companies also signed, on the same date, Forestry Partnership Agreements for a period of 24 years.

A top global producer of eucalyptus pulp, Fibria has an annual production capacity of 5.30 million metric tons, from Brazilian mills located in Três Lagoas (Mato Grosso do Sul), Aracruz (Espírito Santo), Jacareí (São Paulo), and Eunápolis (Bahia), this last being Veracel, its joint venture with Stora Enso. Together with Cenibra, it operates Portocel, in Aracruz (Espírito Santo), the only Brazilian port specializing in pulp shipments.

With its operations based entirely on forest plantations, in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Bahia, Fibria has a total forest base covering 970,000 hectares, of which 343,000 are native forests that have been set aside for environmental conservation. In October 2012, the company entered into a strategic alliance with the U.S. company Ensyn to invest in renewable fuels derived from wood and biomass.
