The TAPPI Papermakers and Water Removal committees have announced a new webinar that will present a case study on Moisture Control on High Speed Medium Machines. Join hosts Luca Canali of Cristini and Phillipos Vrizas of Propapier, Germany, on Thursday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. EST for this exciting presentation.

This webinar will present a case study on how advancements in instrumentation have opened new avenues for effective use of vacuum table elements to control sheet consistency for a variety of papermaking applications. This includes dandy rolls for improved formation, multiple formers for optimum formation, coverage, and ply bond, as well as numerous chemical dosage applications. Changes on the table are measured in real time and these measurements can then be used in a variety of methodologies.

Monitoring machine clothing on today’s machines has presented a variety of new safety and environmental concerns. New instrumentation technology allows real time outputs for fabric moisture content and permeability without requiring operators and technicians to make separate on-machine measurements in dangerous locations. New technology is available as fixed point and/or traversing measurement heads that allow direct connections to the machine’s own DCS/MCS systems for data analysis. Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) capabilities are discussed. FFT capabilities provide near instantaneous read-out of pulsation or vibration issues. All water content/consistency measurements are made utilizing harmless microwave radiation, eliminating the usage of costly and less accurate gamma gauge technology.

Our presenters are leaders in this field and will offer a fresh look at the current technological advancements. This webinar is offered at no charge. Additional details can be found online at the registration page.

The Papermaking and Water Removal committees play an active part in planning TAPPI’s PaperCon 2014 being held April 27-30 in Nashville, Tenn., USA. The Paper & Board Division will feature three comprehensive tracks on Product Development, Paper Machine Upgrades, and Stability, Agility, and Fluid Fundamentals.
