Ilim Group, St Petersburg, Russia, reports that it has completed the first stage of its $21 million rebuild project at the company’s Ust-Ilimsk Mill in Russia. The first stage has focused primarily on the large-scale rebuild of recovery boiler No.1, with investments at this stage exceeding $11 million, the company says. The projects are designed to improve manufacturing performance and reduce environmental impact.

During the first stage, which lasted 65 days, the mill performed all necessary commissioning work, adjusted the required process parameters, and ensured the ramp-up of the boiler.

During the second stage, which is planned to begin in spring 2014, the mill will replace two precipitators worth about $5 million each. At this stage, total investments of Ilim Group in the entire RB1 Rebuild Project will be at the planned $21 million.
