Grupo Gondi to Build New Box Plant in Mexico

Grupo Gondi, Mexico, reports that it will build a new box plant in Nava (Piedras Negras), Coahuila, Mexico. The new plant will supply current and future packaging needs of manufacturers in the Coahuila, Mexico area, including the CCC Brewery, as well as southern U.S. markets.

According to Grupo Gondi, the company has a long-term contract to supply beer packaging to the CCC Brewery and is supporting that contract with the new plant, which will:

  • Be built in two phases
  • Feature state of the art technology with its new equipment
  • Use high graphics in micro flute and folding cartons
  • Have production capacity up to 9,000 metric tons of packaging cartons per month
  • Operate at high efficiency (OEE above 80%) with low waste level (< 3%)
  • Implement a lean management structure.

Grupo Gondi is made up of 10 companies with more than 5,000 employees. The company specializes in the production of paper, corrugated cardboard boxes, pre-printed corrugated boxes, and solid fiber containers, folding containers, boxes of micro–corrugated cardboard boxes, and labels.
