Oji Holdings Corp., Japan, this week announced that it will acquire 75% of all of the issued shares of United Packaging Joint Venture Co., (UPJV) of Vietnam. UPJV is a producer of folding boxes, high-grade corrugated carton boxes, paper cups, etc.

Oji Group’s packaging sites in Vietnam include a new factory that started operation in June of this year in Bac Ninh province, North Vietnam, one site in South Vietnam (near Ho Chi Minh City), and two sites in North Vietnam (near Hanoi City). UPJV owns a factory in Ho Chi Minh City. Thus, with the acquisition announced this week, the company will have a total of four packaging sites, consisting of two sites each in South and North Vietnam.

With the acquisition, the Group, in addition to the existing corrugated carton box business in Vietnam, adds folding box business to its current product mix, allowing it to provide a more comprehensive total packaging service and also to meet the various needs of the continually developing Vietnam market.
