Omya, Switzerland, this week announced that its Group Sales & Marketing Paper department has been renamed Group Sales & Marketing Forest Products Industry. The company notes that the new positioning reflects changing market conditions of the board and paper industry and also the strategy of an integral approach to the forest products industry.

Omya says that its defined target is to develop and promote new application areas, both for its own calcium carbonates as well as for various distribution products.

A general principle of the concept, it adds, is to act with "one face to the customer," using Omya’s "expert know-how" in various industries or applications. The new approach creates the chance for existing and new concepts or ideas from R&D and Innovation to be developed. Also, the segment "Forest Products Industry" aims to effectively utilize Omya’s key competencies in fiber and mineral processing to better serve all stakeholders in the forest industry value chain.

Together with its business partners, Omya says that it is looking forward to extending activities at existing customers and identifying and mastering new business opportunities through the expanded Group Sales & Marketing Forest Products Industry department.

Omya is a global producer of industrial minerals, mainly fillers and pigments derived from calcium carbonate and dolomite, and a worldwide distributor of chemical products. The company’s major markets are the forest products industry, polymers, building materials (paints, coatings, sealants, adhesives, and construction), as well as life sciences (food, feed, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, environment, and agriculture). Omya operates more than 100 locations in 50-plus countries, with 7,000 employees.
