DS Smith Names Marsh Group Finance Director

DS Smith Plc, U.K., a producer of recycled packaging for consumer goods, this past week announced the appointment of Adrian Marsh as group finance director, succeeding Steve Dryden whose decision to leave the company was announced this past January. Marsh will join DS Smith from Tesco PLC where he has been the group director of tax, treasury, and corporate finance for the past three and a half years.

Prior to Tesco, Dryden was European CFO at AstraZeneca plc and CFO Global Building Products at Pilkington plc. He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and The Association of Corporate Treasurers. It is anticipated that he will join the company by the end of September.

Dryden will stand down from the board and leave the company on June 28, following publication of the company's final results. David Matthews, group financial controller, will perform the role of interim group finance director.

In June 2012, DS Smith acquired SCA Packaging. On a combined basis, the group is now the second largest manufacturer of corrugated products in Europe. It is also a major global supplier of bag-in-box packaging and a leading European supplier of plastic returnable transit packaging. The combined group now has revenues of approximately £4 billion (based on a combination of historically reported figures and a 12 month contribution from both businesses.
