Appvion, Appleton, Wis., USA, formerly known as Appleton, a producer of NCR Paper brand carbonless paper and Appleton Digital Paper, this week introduced Appleton Digital Synthetic Paper for HP Indigo. The durable substrate joins an extensive line of specialty digital sheets that include polyester, paper-film laminate, pressure sensitive, and fluorescents.

Engineered for HP Indigo digital presses, the digital substrate has a 3-star rating from the Rochester Institute of Technology's (RIT) HP Indigo certification program. The 3-star HP Indigo certification, which is the highest rating, distinguishes Appleton Digital Synthetic Paper as a premiere specialty substrate choice for HP Indigo digital presses.

The bright white substrate comes in three calipers (6, 10, and 14 ml) and is 100% waterproof. Other features and benefits include:

  • Flexible film that is tear- and weather-resistant for exceptional durability
  • Vibrant color reproduction producing beautiful images
  • Chemical- and stain-resistant
  • No over-lamination required, saving time and money
  • Ultra-smooth print surface for excellent ink adhesion
  • Can be punched, perfed, scored, folded, and die-cut
  • 100% recyclable as a No. 5 plastic
  • Available in low-sheet-count quantities.

"It is clear the specialty substrate market continues to see growth," said Jenny Boone, executive director and GM—Carbonless and Security. "The Appleton Synthetic Paper for HP Indigo offers printers a durable product that is suitable for a broad range of end-use applications. And with its low-sheet-count offering, printers don't have to buy more than they need for short run jobs."

Appleton Digital Synthetic Paper for HP Indigo is suitable for applications such as menus, ID cards, maps, labels, outdoor signage, manuals, lumber tags, point-of-purchase signage, brochures, and shelf talkers.
