The Mayr-Melnhof Group, Austria, has started up its new packaging plant in Poland. According to EUWID Pulp and Paper, Germany, test runs at the site in Bydgoszcz started earlier this month and will reach full capacity in the course of the month.

The plant produces corrugated folding cartons and is located near Mayr-Melnhof's existing plant in the same town. The company's overall capacity in Bydgoszcz will be about a third higher due to startup of the new machine.

EUWID also reported that, according to a statement by the city of Bydgoszcz, Mayr-Melnhof has invested more than PLN 50 million (EUR 12 million) to build the plant, which is the company's third plant in Poland. Mayr-Melnhof reportedly plans to hire 100 people.
