Ence Energy and Pulp, Spain, this week announced an increase in the price of its paper grade pulp to $800 per metric ton, effective January 1. The increase was prompted by the growth in demand for short-fiber paper pulp worldwide.

Ence notes that the increasing demand for tissue, produced from the type of paper pulp that Ence makes, has maintained an average annual growth rate of more than 4% and performed very positively in new markets with high growth potential. The demand for tissue is especially strong in China where it has experienced annual growth rates of more than 10% in recent years.

Ence is a producer of eucalyptus pulp and the second largest company in terms of sales in Continental Europe, with a share of more than 15% of the European market. The company exports almost 87% of the pulp it produces.
