Packsize International, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, this week announced the availability of z-Fold™, a 97% recyclable corrugated material designed specifically for on-demand packaging. With z-Fold, Packsize is able to shift the packaging control to customers, giving them the ability to control time and costs associated with carton packaging.

Available to customers of its corrugated converting machines, Packsize z-Fold can be creased, cut, and scored into an infinite number of box styles and sizes. It is also free from the quality defects often associated with less advanced converting machines, the company notes. As a result, it adds, there are fewer problems on the On-Demand Packaging® line, ultimately providing the customer with a higher box yield.

Corrugated packaging continues to have broad appeal among packaging buyers and end-users alike and remains today an environmentally preferable method for product delivery, Packsize explains. This type of packaging is versatile, cost-effective, allows for customization, and lends itself to product protection during shipping. According to trade association PMMI's 2012 Shipments Study, container/material manufacturing had the greatest dollar sales of $760 million in 2011, about 10% of the total market, the company reports.

Z-Fold also aligns well with the company's green packaging initiatives. "Because Packsize has established multiple z-Fold production facilities throughout the U.S., we are able to reduce the delivery distance and carbon footprint for our customers in North America," said CEO Hanko Kiessner.
