International Paper, Memphis, Tenn., USA, has restarted corrugator operations at its Italian San Felice plant near Modena. According to a report by EUWID, Germany, Paolo Pratella, managing director of IP's corrugated packaging business in Italy, said that in April of this year the company made a significant investment to enhance capabilities at its San Felice plant by installing a new state-of-the-art corrugator. However, the devastating earthquakes that hit the Emilia region in May interrupted the ramp-up phase of this new equipment.

IP is currently serving its San Felice customers from the company's other facilities in Italy as well as Spain and France, EUWID notes. Some of the plant's workforce has temporarily transferred to other company operations in Italy. Following restart of the corrugator, more than 70% of the San Felice employees are back at work, the company said.
