APP China to Startup 1 Million Metric TPY Cartonboard Machine in Late 2013

APP China is moving forward with the construction of a new coated ivory board machine at its Xiaogang mill in Ningbo city, Zhejiang province, China. According to a report by PPI Pulp & Paper Week (RISI), the new PM 4 will be 7.3 meters wide and have a design speed of 1,200 m/min. It will have a production capacity of approximately 1 million metric tpy. The new machine is planned to startup at the end of 2013 or in early 2014.

Meanwhile, RISI notes, the installation of a 1.2 million metric tpy Voith Paper (Germany) cartonboard machine is well under way at APP China's mill in Qinzhou City, Guangxi Region. The new machine is expected to start mechanical tests in the third quarter and kick off production in the fourth quarter. The unit will be 8.7 meters wide and will have a design speed of 1,400 m/min. Its main output will be coated ivory board.

APP China currently operates two cartonboard mills in China. Both are located in Ningbo, and have a combined capacity of 1.57 million metric tpy.
