Klabin Awards Pöyry Contracts for Greenfield Pulp Mill in Brazil

Klabin, Brazil, has awarded Pöyry, Finland, a services contract for an environmental study, basic engineering, and detailed site infrastructure engineering for a new pulp mill to be built in southern Brazil. The companies agreed that the value of the assignment will not be disclosed.

Pöyry earlier conducted the conceptual and pre-feasibility studies for the new pulp mill project.

The capacity of the new pulp mill, to be built in the state of Parana in southern Brazil, will be 1.5 million metric tpy and startup is planned for the autumn of 2014. The final investment decision is expected later this year. The raw material will be eucalyptus and pine from Klabin's own plantations.
