Travels with Larry - The Missing Link

For nearly a century, TAPPI has been the go-to place for technical training in the Pulp, Paper and Packaging industries. The missing link with our training program has been in Management and Leadership Training.

The inaugural Foundations of Leadership Excellence Course, sponsored jointly by TAPPI, The University of Memphis Professional and Continuing Education Department and Genesis Performance Partners, took place recently on the campus of The University of Memphis.

Our course instructors included three industry veterans, Ron Bridges and Steve Farmer, both partners of Genesis Performance Partners, LLC and Fred Ellrich Ed. D., MBA with The University of Memphis.

My compliments go out to these gentlemen as well as Maryanne MacDonald of the university and Mary Beth Cornell of TAPPI, who put in countless hours of preparation to bring this course together.

I was joined by 16 students from 11 companies, from 10 states, who participated in one of my bucket list items since I have been with TAPPI. I was extremely pleased with how the course was conducted and the interaction with the students. I have attended many of these type courses over the years and this one ranks right at the top. The instructor's teaching styles were all different yet they complimented each other's throughout the course. They came prepared with decades of real life management skills. The debrief session revealed that all attendee's course expectations were met.
