SCA Hygiene Products GmbH, Heidenheim, Germany, has ordered from Voith, Germany, a complete tissue paper plant. The new TM 5 production line will be installed at the SCA mill at Kostheim near Mainz, Germany. The order volume for Voith is in the triple-digit million range, the company notes.

At 5.5 meters, the new TM 5 will have double the wire-width of a standard tissue paper machine. At a surface weight of 20.5 gsm, it will produce nearly 60,000 metric tons of high-quality towel papers per year. Commissioning of the new TM 5 is scheduled for spring 2013.

The Voith delivery also includes the stock preparation plant, the drying technology, and the entire electrification and automation system. Additionally, Voith will be providing a full service package, the complete engineering, and the paper machine clothing.

A decisive factor in selecting the Baden-Württemberg family-owned Voith as supplier of the new plant reportedly was its premium tissue technology that features very low energy consumption.
